Douglas County utilizes the Everbridge Aware™ mass notification system, an emergency notification system provided by Everbridge, the leading global emergency notification system provider, to communicate with thousands of businesses and residents in minutes in an emergency.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is able to alert residents about fires, floods, toxic environmental issues and other emergencies using Everbridge Aware™ mass notification system. Messages can be sent to residents on – cell phone, home phone, email, text messaging, pager, PDA and more – ensuring that individuals that work in the county or reside here receive life-saving emergency information and important public service announcements. Citizens listed in the county's 9-1-1 database are automatically subscribed to alerts by phone. If your home phone service is any provider other than Qwest, you will need to contact your phone provider to determine if you have been registered. If you are not registered please go to the below link to register. Citizens also have the ability to opt out of the notification process.
It is suggested that all county residents and those that work in Douglas County register and provide additional contact information such as cell phones, text messaging, home and work email, etc…. (It is suggested that if you work at a location that has a large phone system or PBX type system that you do not register your work line). This will ensure you will receive important emergency information that is affecting your residence or place of work, no matter where you are. It is also suggested that you include all forms of communication devices for all residents living at your address including children.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is committed to our citizens, to include our ability to reach residents quickly during an emergency, to warn them and provide guidance is critical to upholding that commitment. The Everbridge emergency mass notification system ensures our counties dispatch centers will be able to react accurately and efficiently in a natural disaster or other crisis.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is a member of the 9-1-1 Authority.
