Additional Charges Filed on Suspect Arrested in Weatherly Homicide

On Friday, February 9, 2018, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office filed additional charges on the suspect in custody for his connection to the Weatherly homicide which occurred on September 30, 2017. Shelby Weatherly’s body was located along the side of the road in the area of SB I-25 and the Greenland Exit, South of The Town of Larkspur.

Suspect, Mihail Petrov (DOB: 04/28/1980), has been in custody at the Douglas County Detentions Center since October 13, 2017, for the following charges:

C.R.S. 18-8-105(1)(3)/18-3-102 Accessory to a Crime/Murder in the First Degree (Class 4 Felony)

C.R.S. 18-8-610(1)(a) Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class 6 Felony)

C.R.S. 18-8-109 Concealing a Death (Class 1 Misdemeanor)

As a result of the determination and thorough investigation completed by our detectives, the District Attorney’s Office believes that evidence substantiates the following additional charges:

  • Murder in the first degree
  • Tampering with a deceased human body
  • Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft in the second degree

Today, the courts set a preliminary and motions hearing on the additional counts for March 26th, 2017. Petrov remains in our custody without bond.

This case continues to remain open; no additional information will be released at this time.
