This event itself is geared toward community safety and its many components. Many different agencies participate and safety information will be available such as; bike safety, seat belt safety, alcohol and drug awareness. A variety of law enforcement and emergency services equipment will be on display.

This event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participate in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Each neighborhood holds a block party that is visited by local law enforcement and other emergency services personnel. The event is held the first Tuesday in August and is a nation wide event.
Trick Or Treat Street
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to partnerships with the business community. Trick or Treat Street is a program that is sponsored by the Highlands Ranch Community Association and held the Saturday before Halloween. This event gives kids in the county a safe and fun place to trick or treat and to “show off” their costumes. The event is held at the Eastridge Recreation Center and the participating businesses dress up their tables in great Halloween style. The sheriff’s office has participated for many years and feels that this event shows the strong partnership with citizens and businesses.
Douglas County “Christmas For Kids”
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the safety and well-being of the kids who reside in the county. This is evident in the “Christmas For Kids” program sponsored by the sheriff’s office. County employees and sheriff’s office employees can nominate a county family in need, to be sponsored for Christmas presents for the kids. County citizens and local business contribute by donating money for toys or actually buying the toys on the kid’s list. It is a very important program to the county and one of the most rewarding.
Highlands Ranch Hometown Holiday
The Highlands Ranch Home Owners Association invites you to join in a celebration of the holidays on the last Friday of November or the first Friday of December at the Highlands Ranch Town Center. Merchants from the area provide samples of their fare plus hot chocolate and cider. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Community Resources unit is there to provide information on the latest programs in the county. And of course Santa and his elves will be on hand to greet the children and provide a photo opportunity.
