NEW COLORADO RESIDENTS – OUT OF STATE TRANSFERS

Certificates of Training are good for 10 years and can be awarded from any state, if the class was taught by an NRA Certified Instructor.

HOW TO UPDATE MY ADDRESS

Please fill out the change of address form and mail it, drop it off, or email it to handgunpermits@dcsheriff.net.

LOST OR STOLEN PERMITS

If your permit has been lost or stolen, please notify the Concealed Handgun Permit section at handgunpermits@dcsheriff.net or 303-814-7660 within 3 days of discovering the loss. Please complete the Lost/Stolen Permit Form and submit it in person to either location during normal business hours.  You will need to provide proof of identity (i.e. Colorado DL/ID, US Passport, CO ID App) in order to have your request processed. The fee for replacement permits is $15.

HOW TO CHANGE MY NAME ON MY EXISTING PERMIT

If you have a legal name change, you may update your existing permit either before or during the renewal process. For either process, you will need to bring in your current permit and your updated DL/ID reflecting your name change.  If you are changing your name before your permit expires, you will need to get fingerprinted for CBI under your new name, which will be a $13 fee. If you are changing your name during the renewal process, the procedure and fees will be the same as for a regular renewal.

MOVING OUT OF STATE OR COUNTY

If you are moving from Douglas County to another county within Colorado, you will need to submit a change of address form to Douglas County. When it is time for you to renew your permit, you will renew in your new county of residence.  You will have to obtain the renewal application from that county, as they will have no record of you within their system.  If you are moving out of state, please submit a change of address form to Douglas County. You will need to research how long your Colorado permit is valid for in your new state and what their requirements are for obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit.
