DC_Sheriff_Logo_2015

On August 2, 2016, at approximately 2:30 PM, deputies were dispatched to a suicidal subject near the area of Dixon Drive and Alpine Drive in unincorporated Douglas County.  The suspect got into a motor home and started to leave area as deputies were responding to the scene.   The suspect shot at our deputies and our deputies and Parker P.D. returned fire.  The suspect is deceased and one our deputies was injured.  The deputy is in critical condition and is being treated at an undisclosed hospital. The deputy has been identified as Daniel Brite, who has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since April of 2014.  Due to the deputy’s assignment we cannot release his picture at this time.

This incident did occur near Sierra Middle School, Pine Lane Intermediate and Pine Lane Primary.  No students or staff were involved in the situation and the schools were placed on lock down.  The lock down has now been lifted.

We would like to thank the Colorado State Patrol, Parker Police Department, and South Metro Fire for their assistance with this incident.
