The Douglas County Detention Facility offers a work release program. This program is designed to assist the Courts by giving an alternate placement for sentencing. It allows for an inmate the ability to maintain employment and provide for their families. In a balance between the needs for safety of the general public and the need for the inmate to work, there are strict requirements for participation in the work release program, some of them include:

- Court approval

- No outstanding warrants

- Acceptable criminal history

- Acceptable/verifiable employment

- Acceptable behavior within the detention facility

- Comply with facility rules in addtion to all State, Local & Federal Laws.

The work release inmate must pay to participate in work release. The amount varies from $15.00 - $38.00 per day depending on their annual gross income. They wear a GPS tracking monitor and must report to the facility during their work day. All inmates in the program will be searched upon returning at the end of their work day. Items necessary for work (clothing, identification, car keys) are kept in a locked area and not allowed within the housing areas.

If an inmate is sentenced to the detention facility and approved for work release, the work release coordinator will review their booking file, criminal history and employment information. Details regarding work release fees, routine requests, and available services will be discussed.

Any violations of the conditions of work release may result in being terminated from the program.
