New Arrest Information

When an inmate is booked into the detention facility, an inventory of their property to conducted as part of this process. Personal items that are not allowed in the housing units will be placed in a locker and secured with a lock. If the arrestee has any U.S. currency at the time of booking, it will be deposited into an inmate account under the arrestee’s name. No personal or company checks will be deposited. Inmates are not allowed to transfer funds from their account to another inmate’s account.

The funds in the inmate’s account are available for their use to purchase a variety of services available within the detention facility. These services include:

  • Booking/bonding fees
  • Photocopying/notary fees
  • Commissary
  • Medical/dental co-pays
  • Pay fines or court costs
  • Haircuts
  • Work release fees

Inmate Fee Schedule

Bonding $10.00
Photocopying $1.00 or .20 cents per copy, whichever is greater
Haircut $10.00
Wristband replacement $5.00 (if the wristband is destroyed due to negligent behavior)
Co-pay for inmate requested medical/dental/mental health visit $5.00
Notary $2.00 per document

If an inmate is indigent, they can earn funds by working as a pod worker and can earn $2.00 per day during the week of their assignment.At any time during an inmate’s stay, family and friends may deposit funds into their account. These funds must be in the form of cash or money orders only. Sending cash through the mail is highly discouraged.

Upon release, any remaining funds will be returned to the inmate in the form of a debit card.  This EZ EXIT CARD can be utilized to make a purchase or withdraw cash from any ATM with the STAR mark.  If you do not want to handle the debit card, but want a check instead you can request this from EZ CARD directly.  Various fees may apply.

FAQ regarding your Issued Debit Card

  • What is my PIN number?
    • Your year of birth (example 1975)
  • If I enter my PIN wrong – is there a fee?
    • Yes –   If it is a rejection from an ATM – $1.99
    • If it is a rejection for a purchase – $0.99
  • If my purchase is for more than the available funds on my card, what should I do so my purchase is not rejected?
    • You must pay the difference in cash FIRST then use the card for the remaining balance. If you try to use the card first your transaction will be rejected and you will be charged one of the fees listed above.
  • Does the ATM charge fees in addition to the card fees?
    • Yes – you need to keep this in mind so you know what your available balance is.
  • ATM’s only give funds in $20.00 increments – what do I do if my card has less than $20.00?
    • You can make a purchase of less than what is on your card and receive the remainder back in cash.
  • What is the fee for transactions?
    • The first transaction is free for a purchase. ATM local fees are still applicable. Subsequent purchases using the card are $0.99 per transaction. EZ Card will charge an ATM fee of $2.99. Any fees charged by the ATM are still applicable.
  • How do I find out my balance without a charge for the information?
    • You can contact the 800 number on the back of the card for customer service. There is no charge for the automated option.
  • If I do not want to handle the debit card, but want a check instead, can I ask for this?
    • Yes – the check can be issued from EZ Card. It can take up to 15 days for a check to be issued.

Where can I go to use my EZ Card? The following locations have been used to confirm they accept the EZ card for a transaction.  Please take a few minutes to see if these locations will help you with your EZ card you have been issued by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division. We have provided a step by step process for the use of the EZ card.
