Currently, Crimes Against Person Unit consists of a sergeant and four detectives.  The primary function of one detective is domestic violence cases.

The three remaining detectives handle cases involving homicide, felony assaults, felony menacing, missing persons, runaways, kidnapings, extortion, and vehicular homicide. This unit also handles the follow-up on natural deaths and suicides.

The Crimes Against Persons Sergeant and General Investigation Section Lieutenant are responsible for “cold homicide case” investigations.

Many of the cases associated with this unit are high profile and require lengthy investigations.

Investigators attend training in investigative techniques and interviewing skills. Some of the community related functions include domestic violence task force, community service videos, S.H.O.D.I. (Serious Habitual Offender Directed Intervention) C.A.R.T. (Child Abduction Response Team) and death investigations.
