In 2005, Sheriff Weaver created a patrol Pattern Crimes Unit to distinctively address hard to solve crimes that are committed by semi-organized, habitual, or career criminals who commit crimes with a repeat or “pattern” in Douglas County.  The Pattern Crimes Unit is a multi-jurisdictional team consisting of one Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sergeant, two Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies, two Parker Police Detectives and one Lone Tree Police Detective.   Long-term plans include adding an officer(s) from the Castle Rock Police Department.  Facts about the unit:

• The unit works with crime analysts and intelligence officers from Metro-area law enforcement agencies to learn about emerging crime trends and to develop suspect leads.
• The Pattern Crimes Unit applies a wide range of specialized law enforcement skills, to include computer and fraud crimes, street narcotics dealing, felony investigations, and undercover operations.
• Since its inception, the unit has been tremendously successful, catching hundreds of criminals in the act and solving cases that may otherwise have gone unsolved. 
• The Pattern Crimes Unit works closely with the property crimes detectives within the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the Parker Police Department, and the Lone Tree Police Department because most of the pattern crimes are property related felony crimes.
