Littleton Man Arrested after Argument with Neighbor leads to Death Investigation

A Littleton man was arrested on Friday night after an argument with his neighbor turns into a death investigation.

On 10-18-19, at around 3:54 pm, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a disturbance between two neighbors at the WestView at Lincoln Station apartments, at 10181 Park Meadows Dr, in unincorporated Douglas County. While in route deputies were advised that there had been shots fired and possibly one person was hit.

On scene, deputies discovered several people in the hallway as well as one female that was on the ground, with injuries. The female was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The Douglas County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the deceased as Kelly Kiess, age 24. The official cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
The two males on scene were detained for questioning and eventually arrested and transported to the Douglas County Detention Facility.
One male, Andy Bernadeau was booked in on charges of third-degree assault and has since bonded out.

The other male, Justin Chaney DOB 08/22/74, was booked in on the following charge:
18-3-103(3)(a) F2 Murder in the Second Degree
He has since been advised and his bond is currently set at $50,000.
This is still an active investigation and no other information is available at this time.
