We are a group of “Do-Gooders” and “Evil-Doers” with super secret powers (Seriously… they’re so secret we aren’t even sure what they are). These two long standing enemies have decided to take the fight from the streets to the bowling alley.
Yes it’s true…it’s time for the 9th Annual SungateKids Bowlathon. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division has two teams ready to make the pins tremble with fear!!!! Please go to www.sungatekids.org and sponsor our teams – DCSO Angels and Devils # 1, and you guessed it, DCSO Angels and Devils # 2. You can also make a donation directly to anyone in the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit. Everyone is invited to join the festivities and cheer on the Angels and Devils on Sunday April 10, 2011, at Brunswick Zone in Lone Tree from 5 – 8 p.m.
And now a little bit about SungateKids. Every year, thousands of children become victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect. Prevention is critical – but equally critical is what happens to child victims once they disclose abuse or neglect. SungateKids serves the children in Douglas, Arapahoe, Lincoln and Elbert counties, and all of the cities within those counties. It is a child-focused program in which representatives from law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy work together to conduct interviews and make team decisions about investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases. Child victims are brought to SungateKids shortly after the crime is committed and they serve as an unbiased resource to law enforcement and child protective services by providing forensic interviews.
It costs SungateKids approximately $350 per child to provide their invaluable services, and they rely almost entirely on donations from the communities they serve. Last year alone they provided their services to over 1000 children and their families. Please help this incredible organization continue their fight against child abuse by making a tax deductible donation at www.sungatekids.org.
