NARRATIVE: Sheriff David A. Weaver is pleased to announce a new online citizen reporting system that will serve our citizens more efficiently and allow citizens to report certain crimes 24/7 online.
After nearly two years of planning, CopLogic, our on-line reporting system, was launched without public fanfare on September 26th. The handful of reports that were submitted since then allowed sheriff’s office IT staff to de-bug some final details. The application is now sufficiently stable to allow full scale use. Using this online citizen police report system allows citizens to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the police report for free. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office strives to make reporting a criminal offense as convenient for our citizens as possible.
The introduction of this new enhanced program does not replace officers; it merely allows a citizen to be able to file certain reports from the convenience of their computer 24 hours a day.
Only the following types of crimes can be reported, and only when there is no suspect information: Gasoline Theft, Theft (under $1,000), Criminal Trespass to Property, Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Tampering, Missing or Lost Property, Financial Crimes/ Fraud/ Identity Theft, Vehicles Accidents (when DCSO is on accident alert) and Animal Control calls such as barking dogs or animal neglect.
You can access the system from dcsheriff.net under on-line citizen reporting.
