NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY: Douglas County Sheriff David A. Weaver has been elected to a third consecutive term to serve on the Board of Directors for the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC). Sheriff David A. Weaver has been involved with CSOC for many years and is honored to be able to continue to serve on the board for another one year term.
Sheriff Weaver is one of five sheriffs who were elected at-large board members to CSOC Board of Directors for the 2012 calendar year. He was nominated and elected to serve as a board member at the annual CSOC winter board meeting held in Westminster during the first week of January 2012. As a board member, Sheriff Weaver’s responsibility, along with the other elected officers (10 total, to include at-large board members and the officers on the board) on the CSOC board assist in the governance of CSOC by attending and voting on relevant issues at monthly board meetings. Many of the challenges they face throughout the year include training of law enforcement throughout the state while maintain fiscal responsibility.
It is noteworthy that since 1978, the CSOC has given away approximately thirty $500 scholarships annually through their honorary membership program. They consider this an investment in the future and believe it is helping to provide deserving students with an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society as a whole.
