Douglas County Deputies Arrest Kidnapping Suspect
NARRATIVE: On 05/04/12 at about 12:20 pm, The Douglas County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call in reference to two children being kidnapped in the area of Anasazi Indian Way in Highlands Ranch.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office personnel were able to flood the area with deputies immediately and located the vehicle in the area of Highlands Ranch Parkway and Broadway. The children (1 & 3 YO) were unharmed and have been reunited with their parents.
Preliminary investigation shows one of the parents stopped at a garage sale, leaving the children unattended in the vehicle while it was still running. At that point, the suspect got into the vehicle and drove away.
The suspect has been taken into custody.
We have confirmed this is a stranger abduction.
This is an active and on-going investigation and no further information is available at this time.
The suspect has been identified as Robert C. Orr of Littleton, he was taken into custody on suspicion of the following charges:
Kidnapping 2nd Degree 18-3-302 C4F (2 counts)
Motor Vehicle Theft 18-4-409 C3F
Child Abuse 18-6-401 C2M (2 counts)
1st Degree Criminal Trespass 18-4-502 C5F
