Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Richard “Rick” Johnson on charges that he sexually assaulted a former female student.
Richard Johnson is a former 8th grade teacher at Rocky Heights Middle School and was a former basketball coach at Rock Canyon High School (both schools are in Highlands Ranch)
The arrest stemmed from an investigation that started in June 2012. Richard Johnson left the school district in March of 2012 and is not currently employed as a teacher.
Detectives have filed a case with the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office against Richard Johnson, age 31 from Englewood, CO for 30 Felony charges including:
Sexual Assault on a Child by one in a position of trust 18-3-405.3(2) F3.
Sexual Assault on a Child 18-3-405(2) F3
Sexual Exploitation of a Child 18-6-403(5) F3
Enticement of a Child 18-3-305(2) F4
A warrant for Richard Johnson was issued and he turned himself in on 11/13/12 and posted a $50,000 bond.
