WHAT: Incident involving Undersheriff Tony Spurlock
NARRATIVE: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have completed their separate inquiries into the incident involving Undersheriff Tony Spurlock on 04/10/2013. On the night of the incident, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies’ investigation found no evidence that unlawful activity had occurred at the residence. Subsequently, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office completed their thorough independent investigation and cited no violation of law or DCSO SOP/P&P.
Sheriff David A. Weaver reiterated that the reason for an internal and external investigation was to ensure the trust of the people of Douglas County. As public servant employees, we accept that we are under more scrutiny and we embrace this because of the authority with which the public has entrusted our profession.
This incident has now been thoroughly investigated by two law enforcement agencies, both of which found no criminal or procedural wrongdoing.
