A 41 year old mountain bike rider participating in the Indian Creek Rocky Mountain Endurance Series was injured on Saturday which required transport by AirLife Medical. The lengthy rescue was a unified effort by Douglas County Search and Rescue, West Metro Fire, and AirLife.
The accident occurred on the Power Line Trail located in the foothills southwest of Roxborough State Park. The rider was on a challenging section of the trail, hit a log, and fell forward landing on his face. It took almost three hours from the initial call till the time the patient was loaded onto the AirLife helicopter for transport to Swedish Hospital. Douglas County Search and Rescue was staged at the event as part of their volunteer services. The medical status of the patient is unknown at this time but the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
