24-year-old Babysitter Justin Jefferson Convicted for 2nd Sex Assault on Young Boy
CASTLEROCK, Last Friday, June 14, Justin Alexander Jefferson was convicted by a jury for the sexual assault of a young boy he was assigned to babysit in the summer of 2010. Jefferson also pled guilty previously to another sex assault on a young boy in Aurora. Both families found Jefferson via the website Care.com.
Deputy District Attorney Chris Gallo prosecuted Mr. Jefferson’s case. He commented:
“The two victims in these cases were remarkably brave to come forward with their families and describe their assaults. Thanks to them no more children will be victimized. Justin Jefferson will never be alone with a helpless boy again.”
District Attorney George Brauchler remarked: “This case is a chilling reminder that our children are at risk if left with strangers. Certainly no other child will be victimized by Justin Jefferson. We urge anyone who may have hired Justin Jefferson to contact us if he was ever in their home or alone with their child. As a parent of young children, I am determined to make sure that these predatory practices are discovered and punished. Nobody gets to victimize our children with impunity.”
“This type of predator is particularly worrisome because he gained the trust of unsuspecting parents to babysit their children. I am thankful for the hard work and dedication of the 18th Judicial District, District Attorney’s Office, the Douglas County Sheriff’s detectives that worked this case, along with the jury that convicted Jefferson of this heinous crime” said Sheriff David A. Weaver.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office ask that anyone who hired Mr. Jefferson as a babysitter please contact them.
Jefferson is scheduled for sentencing on August 28, 2013 in front of Judge Richard Caschette in Division 3. He faces from 10 to life up to a sentence of 32 to life in prison on the Douglas county conviction alone.
We ask that all parents who hired Mr. Jefferson off the website Care.com from 2009-2011 please contact law enforcement if they suspect that he engaged in any sexual contact with their children or other inappropriate behavior.
