DCSO seeks Public’s Help with Death Investigation

DCSO seeks Public’s Help with Death Investigation

On 07-03-15 at approximately 6:30 P.M. The Douglas County Regional Dispatch Center received a call in reference to a shooting that had occurred at Rainbow Falls Park in the Pike National Forest.  Deputies from Douglas and Teller County Sheriff’s Offices responded, along with medical personnel and a 60 year old male was pronounced deceased.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Investigators and Crime Lab personnel along with the Douglas County Coroner’s Office responded and the preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was with family members at a campsite, when he was fatally wounded.

At this time it appears that an errant bullet from an unknown person struck the victim from an unknown firearm. It is not believed to be an intentional act at this time, however that has not been ruled out.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help and specifically asking for help identifying anyone that was in the area of Rainbow Falls Park that may have been shooting a high powered rifle or any other information related to this case.

Victims name is not being released at this time.

Please contact the DCSO Major Tip Line 303-660-7579

This is an active and ongoing investigation, no further information is being release at this time.
