Motorcycle found in river connected to fatal crash

Douglas County Sheriff’s detectives say Robert Jacob’s Harley Davidson was located yesterday in the South Platte River about 10 miles south of where his body was discovered on June 27.

Searchers have been looking for the motorcycle since Jacob’s disappearance.

The DCSO and the South Metro Fire Rescue’s Swift Water Team used straps and a crane to pull the Harley out of the river around noon today, about two miles north of Sugar Creek Road on South Platte River Road.

Detectives say preliminary information indicates that no foul play was involved and “for unknown reasons, Jacobs ran off the road into the river.”

On June 8, the day Jacob’s went missing, the road near the accident site was gravel. Since then, that part of the road has been paved. Jacob’s family reported him missing on June 8 after he failed to arrive in Breckenridge for vacation.

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock thanks the searchers and the public for their help.

The video was taken by the DCSO and Mr. Jacob’s family approved its release. http://youtu.be/N-OKKE0KkFY.
