Mountain Rescue Association Reaccreditation

Mountain Rescue Association Reaccreditation

Douglas County Search and Rescue successfully passed their Reaccreditation as a member of the Mountain Rescue Association. This process takes place every five years and this is DCSAR’s third time since the Team started in the Fall of 1998.

“The MRA is an organization of teams dedicated to saving lives through rescue and mountain safety education. We do so by improving the quality, availability, and safety of mountain search and rescue. With over 90 government authorized units, the MRA has grown to become the critical mountain search and rescue resource in the United States.”

To achieve Accreditation, the Teams in the Rocky Mountain Region of the MRA must pass all five disciplines that are voted on by their fellow associates. Five scenarios, High Angel Technical Rescue, Low Angle Technical Rescue, Search Management, Winter Technical Rescue, and Avalanche Rescue, are completed over an intense Weekend.

There was a combined total of 40 Evaluators and Observers over the three days of activities. A total of 77 votes were cast. DCSAR thanks all of these members, representing 11 Teams in the Region that participated in the Reaccreditation process. It is an honor to work with all the SAR Teams in Colorado.

The Search and Rescue Teams in Colorado, nor any MRA Team, does not charge for the services.
