John Glassburner attended Arapahoe Community College in 1993 to become P.O.S.T. certified. John started his law enforcement career as a reserve for the Sheridan Police Department. In 1994 he was hired full time by Sheridan P.D. In 1998 John joined the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently an instructor in firearms, tactical handguns, shotgun, and O.C. Spray. He also serves as a Field Training Officer. Prior to being chosen as a K-9 handler, he was assigned to the Traffic Unit. In 2002 Deputy Glassburner was awarded the Medal of Valor.
K-9 Huka is a five year old 90 pound Dutch Shepherd. Huka was born in the
Nedetherlands on October 19, 1999. In 2001 the Parker Wal-Mart donated the
funds to purchase Huka. K-9 Huka is trained in patrol work and narcotic
detection. Huka is involved with several different units within the Sheriff’s
Office to include S.W.A.T., SORT, CDT, and MDTF.
