Captain Attila Denes began his career with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in 1988. He has served in every division of the sheriff's office at one time or another, although most of his career has been devoted to the Patrol, Investigation, and Support Services divisions. He served for five years as the sheriff's public information officer, and has been the agency's Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) coordinator since 2003. He is also the unofficial sheriff's office historian.
Captain Denes holds a master of business administration degree with a specialization in criminology from Northcentral University, a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and criminology from Metropolitan State College of Denver, and graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command. He serves on the adjunct faculty of the Red Rocks Community College Law Enforcement Academy, and teaches a variety of communication-related courses throughout Colorado and nationally.
Captain Denes proudly serves on the board of directors of the Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network, is chairman of the Arapahoe/Douglas CIT steering committee, and is a director- at-large of the Crisis Intervention Teams Association of Colorado (CITAC), which he co-founded in 2007.
Captain Denes and his family have lived in Douglas County since 2004.
