Vehicles and Traffic

Nothing brings traffic to a standstill like an accident. So one of the biggest things we can do to help keep traffic flowing is prevent those accidents from happening in the first place. That starts with enforcing the rules.

Our biggest priorities are school zones and locations that have reported repeat accidents. Just our presence seems to have a positive effect.

Technology helps us pinpoint those problem spots. We analyze data to focus our resources and prevent drivers from crashing and getting hurt or killed.

We also have safety programs for new drivers. And a way to help stem aggressive driving like tailgating and speeding. Helping people become better drivers makes our streets that much safer.

Bad weather means we can’t respond to every accident, so we’ve made it easy for you to self-report report accidents online.  If you think you need a stop sign or traffic signal on your street, please contact Douglas County Public Works Engineering for more information.

These are just a few of the things we’re doing to make your road trips a little smoother and safer.
