Reserve Officers must attend either a Colorado P.O.S.T. certified reserve academy or a full-time P.O.S.T. certified academy. All reserve applicants must complete the same pre-employment written testing, background investigation, psychological testing, and polygraph examination as our full-time deputy sheriffs.
Currently, all applicants must be P.O.S.T. certified through a full-time P.O.S.T. academy or a P.O.S.T. reserve academy before applying.
If you have questions, please contact Lieutenant Robert Rotherham at 303-663-7703 or e-mail at RRotherh@dcsheriff.net.
The Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board documents and manages the training and certification of all active peace officers and reserve peace officers working for Colorado law enforcement agencies. POST also provides continuing training on emerging issues, including anti-bias, DNA and witness protection issues.
