John Glassburner attended Arapahoe Community College in 1993 to become P.O.S.T. certified. John started his law enforcement career as a reserve for the Sheridan Police Department. In 1994 he was hired full time by Sheridan P.D. In 1998 John joined the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently an instructor in firearms, tactical handguns, and shotgun. Prior to being chosen as a K-9 handler, he was assigned to the Traffic Unit and the FTO program. In 2009 John received his K9 Instructor certificate and his K9 Judge certificate from the State of Utah. In 2010 John received his Judge certificate for the Colorado Police Canine Association.
K-9 Koa is a Gold Brindle Dutch Shepherd born February 18, 2008 in the Netherlands. He was purchased from Von Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana on February 18, 2009. K-9 Koa achieved his Utah POST narcotics certification on May 6, 2009 and his Colorado Police Canine Association patrol certification on June 14, 2009. Koa is a dual-purpose dog trained in patrol work and narcotics detection. K-9 Koa has assisted several departments within the Denver-metro area and is attached to the S.W.A.T. team.
