The following are a list of programs that are offered to the citizens and businesses in our community. If you have training requests that are not offered please contact us directly so that we can meet your needs.
Bank Robbery Prevention
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Bank Robbery Prevention Program is a program partnering the Sheriff’s Office and banks that want to take an active role in preventing Bank Robberies. The goal of this program is to increase bank prevention awareness and safety for the bank employees and community. This program is a great supplement to the prevention programs already offered through your bank. This program is taught in your bank and takes about an hour.
Clandestine Lab
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Clandestine Lab presentation is geared more for Hotels and Motels. This on-going danger is addressed in a presentation about awareness and recognition. This program is taught in your place of business and takes about an hour.
Neighborhood Watch
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office takes the safety of its communities very serious, but as you know, we cannot be everywhere all the time. This is why we depend on our community members to do their part to help keep their neighborhoods safe. To get the process started, there are a few things you need to do and know.

Child Safety Program
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to educating children in Safety. This program focuses on who a Stranger is and how to recognize and deal with a stranger. This program is offered to all schools in un-incorporated Douglas County as well as Douglas County Community groups. This program is taught at your school or group meeting place or the Sheriff’s Office.
McGruff Program
The Douglas County McGruff program adds another alternative for the safety of our children. Through this program, the safety that a child feels at home or in their schools is expanded to include a network of McGruff Houses and McGruff trucks.
McGruff House
A McGruff House is a temporary haven for children who find themselves in an emergency or frightening situation such as being bullied, followed, or hurt while walking in a neighborhood. Individuals who volunteer as a McGruff House participant agree to make emegency phone calls for children and what our for children in the neighborhood.
McGruff Truck
A McGruff Truck is a utility truck that children and other individuals can flag down when they feel threatened or in danger. The driver then calls for help on the truck’s two-way radio. McGruff Trucks are marked with special McGruff logos, which most children recognize immediately. Because McGruff is so well-known, McGruff Trucks help make children and entire neighborhoods safer. In Douglas County all Douglas County Parks and Recreation trucks participate in the McGruff truck program.
The McGruff program is administered through elementary schools throughout Douglas County. Call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Community Resources unit at (303) 660-7544 to find out if your child’s school is a participant.
Bully Proofing
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to educating children in Safety. This program focuses on what a bully is and how to recognize and deal with a bully. This program is offered to all schools in un-incorporated Douglas County as well as Douglas County Community groups. This program is taught at your school or group meeting place or the Sheriff’s Office.
Robbery Prevention
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Prevention Program is a program partnering the business community, citizens and the Sheriff’s Office who want to be involved in an active role to help prevent robberies. The goal of this program is to increase community awareness.
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Workplace Violence Program is a program partnering the Sheriff’s Office with businesses who want to take an active role in preventing Workplace Violence. This program is a great supplement or initial training for your business. This program is taught in your place of business and takes about an hour.
ID THEFT
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office ID Theft prevention program is an awareness presentation. This class helps to prevent you from becoming a victim, and instructions on what to do if you become a victim. This program can be taught to businesses as well. This program is taught in your place of business or home and takes about an hour.
Community Resource/ Crime Prevention
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Community Resource program is a presentation developed to help bridge the gaps between Law Enforcement and the community. We discuss the different programs we offer and are a resource to the community based on what needs they may encounter. This program is taught in your place of business or home and takes about an hour.
Personal Safety
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Personal Safety Program is a presentation partnering the Sheriff’s Office and citizens who want to be take an active role in their personal safety. The goal of this program is to increase awareness about safety in your home, apartment, on the street, on public transportation or in the office.
Boy/ Girl Scout Tours and Safety Talks
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to educating children of this community. This program focuses on tours of the Sheriff’s Office facility as well as safety talks. Tours are held on the second Wednesday of each month. The tours start at 4:30 PM. All tours must be pre-scheduled with Crime Prevention. The tour takes approximately 1 hour.
Crime Prevention-Realtors
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention-Realtors Personal Safety Program is a program partnering the Sheriff’s Office and Realtors who want to take an active role in their personal safety. The goal of this program is to increase awareness about the safety risks with showing real estate to strangers and manning residential open houses.
