Crimes against a person means you have been assaulted, raped, robbed, you’re being harassed, stalked, are a victim of domestic violence –and many other crimes that affect your physical being.  This also includes physical crimes that happen against your child.

    These crimes are serious and should be immediately reported by calling 911.  A Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy will respond to take a report and investigate the crime.

  • How can I get support if I’m a victim?

    After you report the crime, deputies will connect you with a Victim Assistance Advocate.  An advocate is someone who will tell you about the criminal process, provide follow-up support and refer you to resources such as counseling. Advocates also act as a liaison between the criminal justice system and you.

  • Are free donated cell phones available for victims of domestic abuse/

    Victims of domestic abuse need a cell phone for emergencies. If you can’t afford one, please call our Victim Assistance Unit  and inquire about getting a donated cell phone.
