Denver Man Arrested After Fatal Traffic Crash

Denver Man Arrested After Fatal Traffic Crash

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Denver man in connection with a fatal traffic crash that occurred on 06-15-19, at around 7:21 pm at the intersection of Powhaton Rd and Sampson Gulch Way, located in unincorporated Douglas County.
Deputies responded to the area after 9-1-1 calls came in reporting that a truck had hit an SUV at the intersection and one party was trapped in the vehicle. When deputies arrived on the scene, Aurora Police Department Officers had the driver of the truck in custody.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital and has passed away from injuries sustained. The Douglas County Coroner’s Office is still working on official positive identification of the victim as well as official cause of death.
DCSO Traffic Crash Team was called to scene to investigate and while it is still an open and active case, they preliminarily believe high speed contributed to the crash.
Jesus Angel Estrada-Rivera, dob 01-10-2000, was taken into custody and transported the Douglas County Detention Facility and booked in on the following charges:
18-3-106 F4 Vehicular Homicide
42-2-138 M Drove Vehicle When License Under Restraint

Estrada-Rivera is currently being held on $50,000 bond.
