Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies take Three into Custody after Crash in Stolen Vehicle

NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – On December 9, 2021, at around 3:30 A.M., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed a stolen pickup in the area of Highway 85 (Santa Fe Drive) and Blakeland Road in unincorporated Douglas County. The vehicle was confirmed stolen from a location in the Town of Castle Rock.

Deputies attempted to stop the pickup, but the driver refused to pull over and began to drive recklessly and in the wrong lanes of traffic.  Stop sticks were used and successfully deflated tire(s), which resulted in the vehicle slowing down.  The driver still refused to stop and continued to drive in the wrong lane of traffic.

On Santa Fe Drive south of Mineral Avenue in the City of Littleton, deputies decided to use a tactical vehicle intervention technique as a means to stop the vehicle. When the pickup was stopped, the driver fled from the scene and into the path of one of the responding deputies and was struck by the deputy’s vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. No details on exact injuries are available at this time.

The two passengers were taken into custody and will be transported to the Douglas County Detention Facility on numerous charges, as well as existing warrants.

No deputies or other uninvolved parties were injured in this crash.  This is an active and ongoing investigation, and more will be released when it is available.
