Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Car Crash

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Car Crash

NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO –The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into a double-fatal car crash that occurred on Crowfoot Valley Road in Unincorporated Douglas County.

On September 14, 2022, at around 5:28 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office along with the Castle Rock Fire Department responded to the report of an injury crash on Crowfoot Valley Road just north of Macanta Boulevard, which is located about a mile north of the intersection of Crowfoot Valley Road and Founders Pkwy.  Due to the report of multiple injuries including a confirmed death, the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigation Team was called out. Crowfoot Valley Road was closed in both directions for about five hours, while the team investigated the crash.

It was determined that four cars were involved in the crash, one occupied by two adult males from the Parker area. The driver was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other information on other injured parties is available at this time.

The Douglas County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the deceased as:

Adam Reihl (driver) age 34 and Michael Reed age 49, both from Parker, CO.

The investigation revealed that Reihl was driving north on Crowfoot Valley Road and crossed into the southbound lane where he struck the side of one vehicle, then collided with another vehicle that was going southbound as well.

While the crash investigation is still ongoing, they preliminarily believe that excessive speed and tire condition are considered to be factors in the crash.

No other information is available at this time.
