FELONY MENACING SUSPECT ARRESTED ON I-25 AFTER TRAFFIC ALTERCATION

FELONY MENACING SUSPECT ARRESTED ON I-25 AFTER TRAFFIC ALTERCATION

On May 21st, 2019 at approximately 10:58 hours, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to I-25 MM184 for an in-progress Menacing with a handgun call. The victim, whose identity we are not releasing at this time, reported that a driver of a semitruck pointed a handgun at him after a possible traffic altercation.

Other agencies, including Colorado State Patrol (CSP) responded to the scene. CSP stopped the suspect, later identified as James W Abney (D.O.B. 05/08/1982) in I-25 MM143 (El Paso County).  Abney was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail on a Class 5 Felony (Felony Menacing F5 – CRS 18-3-206). Abney’s bond is currently set at $25,000.

Thanks to the quick response from our deputies and other state and local Law Enforcement Agencies Abney’s arrest was possible.
