We believe the success of the individual is the success of the organization.

Sheriff’s Office employees receive the most current and effective training for their safety and yours. This ensures highly trained professionals serve the residents of Douglas County.

By providing top quality and innovative training, using the latest technology and the most qualified instructors, we strive to enhance the overall professionalism and function of members of the Sheriff’s Office.

The training unit makes sure each member of the Sheriff’s Office receives all training mandated by the office and under state and federal guidelines.

Deputies attend a minimum of 40 hours of in-service training for firearms, arrest control, driving, emergency medical treatment, and hazardous materials.

We also hold several academies including our POST academy for deputies, Refresher POST academy, reserve deputy academy, Community Safety Volunteer Academy Victim Assistance Volunteer Academy, and Citizen’s Academy.   Also, we provide training for retired law enforcement.
