Update on Structure Fire in Douglas County on 4/3/16

NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – On April 3, 2016 at approximately 1:53 a.m. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a structure fire in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive, in unincorporated Douglas County. When deputies arrived on scene they noted that fire personnel were already on scene of a fully engulfed structure fire. The engulfed structure was located between the residence and a large barn on the property. There was an unidentified body located inside the building.

Upon arrival deputies were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence. At this time, one of the homeowners is still unaccounted for, however there is no indication of criminal activity.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with the Douglas County Coroner’s Office to positively identify the body and determine the cause and manner of death.

 ****Update****

On April 6, 2016 The Douglas County Coroner’s Office legally identified the body that was located inside the burned structure on Oakland Drive as the home owner, 65 yr. old John Sylvester.
