Community Resources

SafetyDays04

The Community Resources Unit works to establish on-going relationships with individuals and entities living and working in the county to facilitate information sharing and educational networks, to facilitate the development of problem-solving partnerships, and to facilitate the most appropriate use of county and community resources to prevent crime and improve the quality of life for citizens of Douglas County.

The Community Resources and Crime Prevention Unit is responsible for community outreach and public education programs.  The employees assigned to the unit are crime prevention specialists.  They are responsible for organizing Neighborhood Watch programs, business safety and crime prevention training, safety events, and a variety of public education programs.  Members of the Community Resources Unit meet with citizen groups to relay information on the latest crime trends and crime prevention techniques.  They also maintain open lines of communication with Neighborhood Watch block captains throughout the community.
